Arsenal led Wigan Athletic 4-0 at half-time in the FA Cup fourth round. Cole Madueke opened the scoring in the 10th minute, Gabriel Martinelli made it 2-0 in the 19th after a deep pass from Eze, Jack Hunt turned a Saka-Madueke move into his own net in the 23rd, and Gabriel Jesus finished a Norgaard pass in the 27th.
Riccardo Calafiori was withdrawn with a warm-up injury and Ceadach O’Neill was added to the matchday 18. Myles Lewis-Skelly moved into midfield during the first half, Bukayo Saka started as captain and was replaced at half-time by Gyokeres. Wigan brought on Matt Smith in the first half; he holds an FA Cup winners’ medal from being at Arsenal in 2020 despite not having played for the first team.
Arsenal dominated possession and chances, registering around 79% possession by the 17th minute, while Wigan dropped deeper and shifted to a back four after falling 4-0 behind. Arsenal face Wolves in midweek, a tie moved as they are involved in the Carabao Cup final.
