Arsenal equalled their Premier League record after scoring twice from set-pieces in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium. William Saliba and Jurrien Timber found the net as Mikel Arteta’s side moved five points clear of Manchester City, albeit having played a game more.

The Gunners have now scored 16 goals from corners in the Premier League this season, the total reached after their double from set-pieces against Chelsea. Opta confirms 16 equals the joint-most in a single campaign — matching Oldham Athletic (1992-93), West Bromwich Albion (2016-17) and Arsenal (2023-24) — and with nine fixtures remaining they could yet set a new outright record.

The match unfolded with Saliba heading home in the 21st minute, Chelsea levelling just before half-time when Piero Hincapié diverted a corner into his own net, and Timber restoring the lead in the 66th minute from another corner. Chelsea were reduced to ten men after Pedro Neto was shown a second yellow in the 70th minute.
