Arsenal on right path to unlock Viktor Gyokeres' potential
Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are on the right path to unlocking Viktor Gyokeres' full potential. The Swede moved to the Premier League leaders in a deal worth an initial £54.8m last summer having shone for Sporting CP, where he scored 39 league goals and registered seven assists.
Gyokeres made a slow start at Arsenal, scoring just five goals in his opening 21 league appearances, but has scored five goals in his last five Premier League outings, including a second-half brace in last weekend's 4-1 north London derby win over Tottenham. Speaking ahead of the Chelsea game, Arteta said: "When you score the first one or the performances are good, you have more time with your team-mates, you understand the games, the opponent, the league better.
Everything helps." He added: "We know his qualities. He is undoubtedly an incredible striker.
