At the Grammys, a number of performers used their acceptance speeches and platform to voice support for immigrants and criticize recent aggressive actions by federal agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Bad Bunny, accepting awards including album of the year, said, “We’re not savages; we’re not animals; we’re not aliens.

We are humans, and we are Americans.” Billie Eilish, wearing an "ICE Out" pin, said, “No one is illegal on stolen land.” Several artists wore pins reading “ICE Out,” including Kehlani, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Justin Vernon and Samara Joy, and the campaign had been introduced at the Golden Globes.

Kehlani, who won for best R&B Performance during the premiere ceremony, closed her speech by urging artists to “join together as a community of artists and speak out against what’s going on,” and added a phrase that included an expletive to express her disapproval of ICE.
