Assassin trailer promises nonstop John Wick-style action
The newly released trailer positions Assassin in the lineage of nonstop combat films like John Wick, The Raid, and Ong Bak, promising elite fight choreography that will leave fans of the genre breathless.
Set in 1930s Shanghai, the story follows elite fighter Mubai, recruited for a top-secret assassination and thrown into brutal battle against the Japanese military machine. Hunted through city streets, train lines, and enemy strongholds, he fights through ambushes, explosions, and close-quarters combat to reach a single target who could change history.
Assassin clocks in at a white-knuckle 90s minutes and will arrive on digital platforms for rental or ownership on April 17, 2026, courtesy of Omnibus Entertainment. The film is directed by Zhou Jiuquin from a screenplay by Lin Huang and stars Jinhao Guo, Ray Lui, Di Wang, and Ming Wang, with an action team that includes choreographer Zhengguang Lu, action director Guan Su, and stunt rigging coordinator Wenting Guo.
