Assassin's Creed Shadows support winds down as Ubisoft outlines future
Ahead of a March 20 stream, Ubisoft confirmed Assassin's Creed Shadows is moving "into its final phase of support." The publisher said it will wind things down with smaller, less frequent updates, though it promised "still a few surprises" that will be shown during the stream marking Shadows' 2025 launch date.
Ubisoft will shift focus to three previously announced Assassin's Creed projects, including the "darker, narrative driven" Codename Hexe. The update also reiterated that Codename Invictus, a PvP multiplayer take on the franchise, remains in development. The company pushed back on rumours that Invictus is a chaotic online party game in the style of Fall Guys, saying: "It’s a new approach to multiplayer in the franchise, but it isn't quite what the rumors have suggested." Ubisoft added the multiplayer project is progressing on a "test and learn" basis.
