Astronomy and Astrophysics Advisory Committee to hold hybrid meeting 29–30 Jan 2026
The Astronomy and Astrophysics Advisory Committee will hold a hybrid meeting on 29 and 30 January 2026, with in-person sessions at the Westin Alexandria in Alexandria, Virginia, and online participation available. The committee is a federal advisory body chartered under the Federal Advisory Committee Act at the recommendation of the Presidential Committee on the Organization and Management of Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics (COMRAA).
Its purpose is to provide advice and recommendations to the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on matters of mutual interest in astronomy and astrophysics. The meeting will run from 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Eastern (6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pacific) on both days. Online attendance requires advance registration using the Zoom registration form; in-person attendance is at the Westin Alexandria, 400 Courthouse Square, Alexandria, VA 22314. For on-site logistical questions, contact Tiana Faulcon.
The committee will hear presentations from representatives of NSF, NASA, DOE and other relevant agencies to discuss current programming, potential areas of cooperation, and recommendations for continued and new collaborations and mechanisms to achieve them.
