At CES 2026, ZDNET's Prakhar Khanna got hands-on with Asus' new ZenBook Duo (2026), a dual-screen laptop the writer said looks ready to replace their M4 MacBook Air. The laptop features two 14-inch OLED touchscreens with 2,880 x 1,800 resolution (2.8K), a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 1,000 nits peak brightness for supported HDR content.

Asus reduced bezels near the hinge to reach a 93% screen-to-body ratio while retaining a top bar that houses a Windows Hello camera. The detachable Bluetooth keyboard now has a larger trackpad and increased key travel, though Khanna noted they hadn't typed on it for more than five minutes.

Asus built the chassis from its Ceraluminum material and the unit measures 1.65kg and 14.6mm thick (without the keyboard), with a slightly thicker point due to a new hinge and a sturdier kickstand. The ZenBook Duo (2026) comes in two processor variants — Intel Core Ultra 7 355 (48 TOPs NPU) and Core Ultra 9 386H (50 TOPs NPU) — both paired with 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD.

Battery capacity increases to 99Whr from 75Whr; Khanna said the larger battery combined with more efficient processors should ideally lead to improved endurance. Ports include two Thunderbolt 4, one HDMI 2.1, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and an audio jack, and wireless standards are Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
