Atletico 1-1 at half-time as Champions League playoffs continue

Four Champions League playoff second legs are under way: Atletico Madrid v Club Brugge, Bayer Leverkusen v Olympiakos, Internazionale v Bodø/Glimt and Newcastle v Qarabag. Atletico and Club Brugge are level 1-1 at half-time, with other aggregates showing Leverkusen 2-0, Inter 1-3 and Newcastle 6-1.

Alexander Sorloth gave Atletico the lead on 23 minutes when Simon Mignolet failed to deal with a shot that squeezed into the bottom left. Joel Ordonez headed Club Brugge level from a corner on 36 minutes, and Hugo Vetlesen missed two big chances that would have put Brugge ahead. Team sheets were unchanged at the break and the second half is underway at the Metropolitano.

Internazionale, last season’s runners-up, face the prospect of elimination against Bodø/Glimt as they trail 1-3 on aggregate.

Newcastle’s second leg at St James’ Park is also taking place tonight; they hold a 6-1 aggregate lead over Qarabag.
