Atletico lead Tottenham 4-1 at half-time after a chaotic first half in Madrid. Marcos Llorente opened the scoring (6), Antoine Griezmann made it 2-0 (14) and Julian Alvarez converted a gifted chance (15) following a slip by Spurs keeper Antonin Kinsky. Kinsky was substituted after 17 minutes and was applauded from the pitch; Robin Le Normand nodded in (22) before Pedro Porro pulled one back for Tottenham (26).

Cristian Romero later thumped a header off the outside of the post. Newcastle and Barcelona are level at 0-0 at the break in a tight, tense tie. Barcelona have grown into the game, Dan Burn nearly turned a cross into his own net, Lamine Yamal avoided a yellow for a cynical foul on Lewis Hall, and Newcastle keeper Aaron Ramsdale made a smart save to tip Elanga’s shot round the post.

Atalanta trail Bayern Munich 0-3 at half-time as Bayern lead through goals from Josip Stanisic (12), Michael Olise (22) and Serge Gnabry (25). Bayern look comfortable as they head into the interval.
