Avengers: Doomsday Is Making Its Massive Call Sheet Worth It
Lewis Pullman said during an SXSW interview about Wishful Thinking that working with Joe and Anthony Russo felt ‘‘strangely similar to how this really small movie works.’’ He described their approach as family style, incorporating everyone, trusting actors’ knowledge of their characters and acting as ‘‘beautifully gentle leaders’’ who create a ‘‘corral of structure for you to live in.”
Pullman called the film ‘‘one of the craziest stacked casts I’ve ever heard of,’’ adding that he was lucky to ‘‘sit in the corner and have a couple of lines in there.’’ The ensemble already brings together the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Wakandans, the Thunderbolts and several legacy X‑Men characters.
He also framed Doomsday as ‘‘a fan’s dream movie,’’ saying every character has ‘‘crucial, integral developments’’ and that nobody is merely present for show—‘‘everyone is there for a reason and their own very individual reason.’’
Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18, 2026.
