Back to the Future Returns to Apple TV Top 10, 41 Years On
Back to the Future, the Steven Spielberg-produced 1985 sci-fi comedy, has reappeared on streaming charts. Data from FlixPatrol shows the Michael J. Fox-led film reached the Apple TV Store Top 10 in several countries, including Portugal.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis and co-written with Bob Gale, the story follows high schooler Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and the eccentric inventor Emmett “Doc” Brown (Christopher Lloyd) after a time-travel experiment sends Marty into the past and creates a temporal dilemma he must resolve. The film’s blend of humor and clear narrative logic helped it become a blueprint for future time-travel stories.
Released July 3, 1985, with a runtime of 116 minutes, Back to the Future spawned a trilogy — Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Part III (1990) — and expanded into comics, cartoons, and video games. The cast also includes Crispin Glover, Thomas F. Wilson, and Lea Thompson, and the film continues to find new audiences on modern streaming platforms.
