Bad Bunny didn't mention ICE at the Super Bowl. A different message was front and center.
Bad Bunny used his Super Bowl halftime show to highlight the importance of diversity.
At the end of his set, right after his song "CAFé CON RON," backup dancers ran out carrying flags of countries in North and South America. In English he said, "God Bless America," and listed the names of all countries on both continents while performing before a billboard that read "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE."
He held up a football emblazoned "TOGETHER, WE ARE AMERICA" and closed with his song "DtMF." Cardi B, Ricky Martin, and Lady Gaga also joined him onstage, with Lady Gaga singing "Die with a Smile."
He did not mention ICE at the Super Bowl, though he has been vocal about immigration issues and has slammed violence linked to immigration in recent days. At the Grammys last week, accepting album of the year for "Debí Tirar Más Fotos," he said, "Before I say thanks to God, I'm going to say: ICE out," and dedicated the award to people who had to leave their homeland to follow their dreams.
