Last year's action film Bad Man, starring Seann William Scott, has found a new audience on Prime Video, entering the streaming service's top 10 in the United States. Best known for his comic turns in American Pie, Scott turns grim as a renegade undercover agent in a story based on real events.

The movie is the feature debut of director Michael Diliberti, who co-wrote the screenplay with JJ Nelson. The ensemble includes Johnny Simmons, Rob Riggle, Kaitlin Doubleday, Chance Perdomo, Lovi Poe, Marcelle LeBlanc, Erik Audé and John Patrick Jordan. Bad Man uses familiar genre beats—a small town under siege by crime and drugs, a shocking murder and a lone rogue cop who may be the only one able to piece things together.

Seann William Scott's character, Bobby Gaines, arrives as an undercover agent with the state's Special Narcotics Task Force and is paired with Sheriff Sam Evans (Johnny Simmons); he is initially welcomed as a hero, but the deeper the investigation goes the less certain his motives appear.
