Jonte Richardson, a black British filmmaker, said he will step down as a Bafta judge after the organisation’s handling of an incident in which John Davidson, a Tourette syndrome campaigner, shouted the N-word while Delroy Lindo and Michael B Jordan presented an award.

Audience members had been briefed that Davidson might shout inappropriate language; the later TV broadcast did not include that forewarning and failed to edit out the outburst.
