Baldur's Gate 3 writer: 'I wish I could have done more' for Wyll

Wyll has become one of Baldur's Gate 3's more criticized companions, with many players feeling he lacks content compared with other party members. He still has a compelling storyline — Mizora and all — but his romance options and overall arc come across as thinner, and Larian Studios has acknowledged the shortfall; writer Kevin VanOrd addressed it in a recent edition of Edge.

VanOrd reiterated comments he'd made earlier this year: 'I wish Wyll had gotten more content and a more fulfilling arc, too.' He also said, 'Wyll's content is sparser than I'd have liked.' The sense of missed opportunity is sharper now that the game's 'final' big update, Patch 8, arrived in 2025.

Companions like Wyll (and Karlach) will have to persevere with what they already have, though some fans hold out hope the Baldur's Gate 3 TV show might offer another outlet for the character.
