Balenciaga's Paris show was a collaboration with Euphoria, staged in a dark, cavernous venue on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées where low lights and loud music by Rosalía and Labrinth set the tone. Flickering video screens moved from nocturnal cityscapes into preview images from the long-awaited third series, which returns in April, and a sweater was printed with a screen still of Danielle Deadwyler smoking a cigarette in a low-cut blood-red top.

Pierpaolo Piccioli worked with Sam Levinson, who designed the installation and cinematography; Piccioli said he had collaborated because he wanted "to take a picture of this generation. What I love about his show is that he doesn’t criticise, or celebrate, or judge.

He shows us the humanity of the characters." The mood translated into glossy blacks and harsh neons, bare legs and ab-revealing dresses, scrunched leather jackets and inscrutable dark glasses.
