Independent.co reports Liverpool secured a 4-1 FA Cup victory over Barnsley on Monday evening, but a careless backheel from Dominik Szoboszlai in his own penalty area drew a sharp rebuke from visiting boss Conor Hourihane.

Szoboszlai had opened the scoring with a 35-yard strike, yet his attempted backheel pass to goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili allowed former Liverpool academy player Adam Phillips to score in front of the Kop. Hourihane said: "It is such an amazing feeling for Adam scoring in front of the Kop... Not many people can say that. But it was a little bit disrespectful from their player, to be honest. I don’t think he does that against Chelsea or Arsenal or in a Champions League game."

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot said he would share his views privately, adding: "It is not the first time... we are 2-0 up, there are no problems in the game and we concede a sloppy or an easy goal, but this stands out even for us." The win, sealed when £116million summer signing Florian Wirtz made it 3-1 in the 84th minute and £79m Hugo Ekitike scored in added time, extended Liverpool's run to 11 matches unbeaten and set up a fourth-round home tie with Brighton; Slot also praised Barnsley for making the game difficult against a team 17th in the third tier.
