Batman: The Animated Series Streams Free on Tubi Starting March 1
Batman: The Animated Series, the 85-episode landmark of 1990s animation, will be available on the free streaming service Tubi from March 1. It arrives alongside several Cartoon Network classics moving to the platform this month. Developed as an offshoot of Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman, the show ran for 85 episodes across two seasons from 1993 to 1995.
Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski created the series, while Paul Dini introduced Harley Quinn. Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill and Arleen Sorkin became closely identified with Batman, the Joker and Harley Quinn respectively. The series spawned follow-ups and a theatrical feature, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, now regarded as one of the greatest animated movies.
It led to The New Batman Adventures and Batman Beyond, inspired the Arkham video-game series, and established the show’s signature “dark deco” animation style. Years before contemporary shared universes, it also helped launch an animated franchise that included Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League.
