Bay Simpson's 'Weird' Rock-Folk Turn Wins The Voice Battle

On the March 16 episode of The Voice: Battles of Champions, Bay Simpson and Hunter Jordan represented Team Adam with a dynamic rendition of Morgan Wallen's "I'm the Problem." The performance opened with Jordan's strong, country-rooted vocals and at one point had Kelly Clarkson staring in awe from her coach's chair.

The set shifted when Simpson showcased his unique vocal stylings, bringing an old-school rock/folk edge that surprised the coaches. John Legend admitted he wondered, "How's Bay gonna compete with that?" then added, "But then Bay comes on, and your voice is like, a little weird in a very cool way." Clarkson chimed in, "If weird means sexy and intimate and rock-n-roll!

It's so good!" while giving Simpson a big thumbs up. Adam Levine faced the choice of who would move on to the Knockouts and ultimately sent Simpson forward.
