Bayern activate buy-back for Noel Aseko as potential Goretzka successor

FC Bayern Munich has exercised the buy-back option for midfielder Noel Aseko, who is on loan at Hannover 96. Hannover will trigger a purchase option for one million euros and Bayern will then activate the agreed buy-back clause of 2.5 million euros, meaning Hannover will receive 1.5 million euros for Aseko’s return to Munich.

The 20-year-old is being considered as a possible successor to Leon Goretzka, who leaves the club when his contract expires this summer. Aseko is viewed as the top internal candidate to fill the squad place vacated by Goretzka and the club could build its midfield plans around him unless an external replacement is signed.

Aseko trained regularly with the first team under coach Vincent Kompany before his loan and has had a strong 2. Bundesliga season with Hannover since early February 2025.
