Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl said at Munich airport ahead of the Champions League trip to Atalanta that contract talks with Konrad Laimer have reached a temporary impasse. The Austrian international is under contract until June 2027 and has established himself as an important player this season.

“We would like to extend with Konny. There were talks, at the moment it's resting,” Eberl said, adding the situation is “also not bad, that's without resentment and without malice.” The core issue is a substantial gap in salary expectations: Laimer currently earns between €8 million and €9m per year but is reportedly seeking a deal worth approximately €15m per year including bonuses as he approaches his 29th birthday in May.

Bayern are reluctant to meet those demands as they aim to preserve a sustainable wage structure, with Luis Diaz and Michael Olise believed to be earning roughly €14m and €13m respectively.
