Bayern Munich are stepping up plans to reshape the squad and have prioritised the right-back position, searching across Europe for defensive talent while placing greater emphasis on youth and longevity at the Allianz Arena. Sky Sport has added Benfica teenager Daniel Banjaqui to Bayern’s shortlist.

The 17-year-old, under contract until 2027, has impressed for Benfica’s second team and is viewed as a modern full-back with a strong attacking instinct and physical upside. Interest in Banjaqui has risen as Bayern’s pursuit of Feyenoord’s Givairo Read has become more complicated: talks with Read’s representatives have advanced but the player appears injury-prone and the deal is becoming expensive amid wider interest.

That combination has prompted Bayern to weigh a lower-risk, long-term option in the Benfica youngster. The search for defensive security is also tied to Konrad Laimer’s future.
