The Milan Cortina Winter Olympics will close at the Arena di Verona on February 22, marking the first Olympics Closing Ceremony held at a UNESCO World Heritage site. The historic amphitheater, recently modernized as the Verona Olympic Arena, will host a program intended as a showcase of Italian culture.

The ceremony’s theme, "Beauty in Action," is presented as a love letter to Italian culture, creativity and the unity of sport, art and beauty. Curators say the show will weave the mountainous and urban identities of Milan and Cortina into a fusion of opera, music, dance, cinema, design and technology — a tapestry of music, art and storytelling meant to reveal the country’s creativity, ingenuity and passion.

Creative director Alfredo Accatino leads the production, and performances will include Roberto Bolle, Gabry Ponte, Achille Lauro and Benedetta Porcaroli.
