Collider reports that before Harlan Coben's Run Away became Netflix's top title worldwide, James Nesbitt played a powerful, shady gangster named Calligan in Coben's miniseries Missing You, which premiered on January 1, 2025.

In Run Away, which premiered on January 1, 2026, Nesbitt stars as Simon Greene, a father of three determined to find his eldest daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange); after a brutal confrontation with Paige's boyfriend Aaron Corval (Thomas Flynn), who turns up dead the same day, Simon becomes the prime suspect. By contrast, Missing You follows detective Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) as she investigates multiple disappearances and the unsolved murder of her father (Lenny Henry), uncovering his corrupt ties to Calligan while a separate mystery involving her former fiancé Josh (Ashley Walters) deepens.

Missing You spans five episodes and, in Coben's signature style, ties its mysteries together with unexpected turns and a satisfying conclusion; Nesbitt's Calligan is portrayed as confident, arrogant and manipulative, at one point forming a tense détente with Kat and providing a vital hint about her father's killer. Run Away has been described as delivering twists through its final scenes and, per FlixPatrol, has reached the top of Netflix's worldwide chart.
