Berterame eyes Suárez masterclass at Inter Miami
Germán Berterame knows expectations come with the price tag: Inter Miami paid $15 million to sign the striker from Monterrey. After a 3-0 season-opening loss to LAFC, the Mexico international spoke to the media for the first time as a Herons player ahead of Sunday’s trip to Orlando City as Miami seek their first win of the MLS season.
Berterame arrives from Rayados as a proven scorer and fan favorite, but he joins a locker room stacked with global stars. "Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul and Luis Suárez are players with tremendous stature who elevate you collectively and individually," he said.
"And especially Suárez, since I play alongside him as a No. 9. I’m going to take full advantage of that." Suárez’s résumé — from Liverpool and Ajax to Barcelona and the Uruguay national team — is one Berterame has followed closely. "I watched him for years on television, all those matches and goals at Barcelona and everywhere he played," he said.
