Bethesda to reveal more on Starfield as industry faces changes
A PS5 port of Starfield is reportedly due in April, and Bethesda invited media and influencers to its Maryland studio for a sneak peek at the game's next update. Director Todd Howard cautioned it is not a full 2.0 reboot, while composer Inon Zur called Howard a visionary who "sees things that people will start to find out years later." Bethesda tempered expectations with Howard's joke that his only visionary power is "seeing running lanes in EA College Football 26," and said it will have more to share next week.
Fresh cuts have started at Warner Bros. Games. Developers across multiple disciplines were laid off from Warner Bros. Montreal last week, and although those moves may have been planned before Paramount's winning acquisition bid, the publisher's gaming division is expected to face severe budget pressures.
Ted Sarandon told Bloomberg there will be "cuts in excess of $16 billion" and that the company is telling lenders the reductions will happen in about 18 months.
