Binge Bloodhounds on Netflix Before Season 2
With just eight tightly wound episodes, Bloodhounds is a compact, brutal Netflix K-drama that balances unflinching violence with earnest character work. The series leans into the creative freedom of Netflix-produced Korean dramas, embracing darker material while keeping a surprisingly hopeful core; Season 2 premieres April 3 on Netflix.
The story follows aspiring boxers Kim Geon-woo and Hong Woo-jin, whose careers and livelihoods were upended by the COVID-19 pandemic. When loan sharks operating as Smile Capital exploit Geon-woo’s mother, Yoon So-yeon, and destroy her shop, the pair choose to fight back against the company’s sadistic CEO, Kim Myeong-gil, rather than run.
Bloodhounds uses that fight to examine broader social faults, showing how systems of finance and power prey on the vulnerable. The series is less about the sport and more about the "heart of a boxer": loyalty, friendship, and the moral cost of resisting corruption.
