BioRand is a randomizer mod for the original Resident Evil trilogy, a long-running community project that reshuffles items, enemies and other game elements. Rather than simply moving keys and monsters, it can twist the games into a surreal, often comedic experience that upends how you remember Raccoon City.

You can install BioRand from ModDB or GitHub, but the fastest option is one of the pre-assembled packages on the BioRand website, some of which bundle unofficial HD remaster mods for all three games. After unpacking, run BioRand.exe, point it at your copies of Resident Evil 1–3, and use the configuration panel to pick games, characters, weapons, enemies and other options; the 'Reduce awkward silences' setting helps keep dialogue timing close to the original.

The Randomize Doors option is especially disruptive: stepping through the front door of RPD HQ might drop you into an Umbrella lab, with BioRand placing the keys needed to navigate the new layout.
