Bitcoin recovers to near $90,000 after brief dip as U.S. captures Venezuela's Maduro
The U.S. launched a "large scale" military strike against Venezuela early Saturday, President Donald Trump said, and captured President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who were flown out of the country.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi later announced Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, had been indicted in the Southern District of New York on drug trafficking and weapons charges.
Crypto markets reacted briefly: around 2 a.m. ET reports of the operation pushed bitcoin down about 0.5% to $89,300. By just shy of 9 a.m. ET, BTC had returned to just below $90,000.
President Trump scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. ET regarding the operation.
