Bitcoin tumbled below $66,000 after little sign over the weekend of any de-escalation in the U.S. war against Iran. The jump in oil prices set the tone for markets as the new week began on the wrong foot.

April WTI crude futures rose 19.1% to $108.35 per barrel, roughly double the price at the start of 2026 and the highest level in about four years. The surge pushed U.S. stock index futures down by nearly 2% and left Japan's Nikkei 225 futures about 3.1% lower ahead of Monday trade.

Bitcoin was trading at $66,276.73, down about 2% and just under $66,000. Ether (ETH) and solana (SOL) slipped closer to 1.4%, while precious metals and copper traded modestly lower.

In what's become a familiar scenario in crypto over the past few months, prices are starting the week on the wrong foot as broader market moves ripple through digital assets.
