Bitfinex Leads Major Bitcoin Outflows as Weekly Total Hits 47,000 BTC
Bitcoin exchange withdrawals surged to more than $2 billion on Wednesday, as roughly 31,900 BTC left Bitfinex in a single day. Axel Adler Jr., a contributor to onchain analytics platform CryptoQuant, said the week’s total outflows reached approximately 47,700 BTC, one of the highest weekly figures over the past year, and confirmed a major BTC buy occurred this week.
Wednesday’s outflows neared 32,000 BTC ($2.26 billion). Adler described the Mar 4 spike (-31,900 BTC) as anomalous, noting single-day events of this magnitude are most often associated with large position transfers to cold storage, though a portion may reflect internal custodian movements.
For the week through Friday, exchange flows were net negative every day, which Adler said typically signals reduced potential selling pressure in the spot market. CryptoQuant and CoinGlass data identified Bitfinex as the venue for the outflow, marking the exchange’s largest daily BTC withdrawal since June 2025.
