BMX SolidSafe Air: thinnest Qi2 power bank with semi-solid-state battery
The BMX SolidSafe Air is available now for $60 and is being marketed as the world’s thinnest 5,000 mAh Qi2 power bank. It measures 0.27 inches (6.8 mm) thick, with overall dimensions of 4.1 × 2.8 inches and a weight of 4.1 oz, making it one of the slimmest packs the reviewer has tested.
The front houses a 15W Qi2 wireless charging pad that remains backward-compatible with older Qi devices, and the magnetic clamp is strong enough to hold a phone even in a thick case. A single USB-C port on the bottom supports 15W input and output and the unit offers pass-through charging; a basic cable is included in the box.
Inside sits a 5,000 mAh / 19.25 Wh semi-solid-state battery, which replaces the flammable liquid electrolyte with a slurry or gel. That design is more fire-resistant, rated for about 1,000 recharge cycles, and showed only a tiny ember and some smoke when punctured in the reviewer’s test.
