Cbssports reports the Denver Broncos defeated the Buffalo Bills in overtime in the divisional round, but quarterback Bo Nix suffered a broken bone in his ankle on the second-to-last play of overtime and will require surgery, ending his season. Sean Payton said Jarrett Stidham will start in the AFC Championship next week in Denver at Mile High.

Stidham has been with the Broncos since 2023, played one snap this season (taking a knee in October) and has not thrown a regular-season pass since 2023; the article judged those factors make a conference title with Stidham unlikely despite Denver's home-field advantage and a strong defense.

The piece also faulted Buffalo for squandering what it called perhaps its best Super Bowl chance, noting Josh Allen committed four turnovers (two fumbles and two interceptions) and that the Bills entered the postseason as a wild-card after losing their division. It added that coach Sean McDermott may be on one of the hottest seats next season and cited his career marks comparing playoff and regular-season wins without a Super Bowl appearance.
