Bob Odenkirk’s Normal teases Fargo-style crime showdown

Bob Odenkirk headlines Normal, a Ben Wheatley–directed action film written by Derek Kolstad. It is the third collaboration between Odenkirk and Kolstad, who penned Nobody and Nobody 2, and Odenkirk joined Kolstad as a co-author on this project.

Odenkirk plays Sheriff Ulysses, a lawman who has uprooted his life to lead the police in the Minnesotan town of Normal. Small-town calm unravels after a bank robbery, revealing a long-running criminal enterprise and drawing inevitable comparisons to Fargo.

A new image finds Ulysses braced against a patrol car in a frigid winter, sipping coffee and wearing a beanie marked “Sheriff,” a glimpse of the film’s colder, darker tone.

The ensemble includes Henry Winkler, Lena Headey, Brendan Fletcher, Billy MacLellan, Reena Jolly, Ryan Allen, Jess McLeod, Peter Shinkoda and more. Magnolia Pictures will release Normal in U.S. cinemas on April 17, 2026.
