A spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed to People that searchers recovered Corbin Constant, 31, on Thursday, Jan. 8, after a pickup truck carrying two people fell through the ice on Cedar Lake in Manitoba on Dec. 16. Tasha Ferland, 23, who was with Constant, remains missing, authorities said.

The vehicle sank about 250 feet from shore near the Manitoba Hydro boat launch, the RCMP previously said. “Investigators were able to determine that the vehicle, containing a male and female passenger, drove out onto the ice when it broke through,” the RCMP said on Dec. 17. “Tracks were seen leading from the boat ramp out onto the ice.

The two occupants were unable to escape the vehicle before it went under.” Searchers initially deployed a drone and an underwater recovery team. The Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team said in a Dec. 31 social media statement that it used specialized underwater robotics and an airboat, “We found and recovered one of the missing persons’s cell phone.
