Thirty-one days after returning to action and 471 days after falling ill, former Roma and Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove scored his first goal in England as Watford beat Wrexham 3-1. Bove, born in 2002, came on in the closing stages and struck in stoppage time to seal the win.

The move began with Mamadou Doumbia's run down the right; his right-footed delivery hit the crossbar, Marc Ola's powerful left-footed attempt also came back off the bar, and the loose ball fell to Bove a few yards out. A banner in the stands read 'Even though you left Roma, you're not alone.' He ran to the stand to embrace supporters and later knelt alone in the centre circle, reflecting on everything he had gone through to reach that moment.

Bove collapsed during the Fiorentina v Inter match on 1 December 2024; tests discovered a malignant ventricular arrhythmia, 'torsades de pointes', and he had a subcutaneous defibrillator fitted.
