Brandon Sanderson's crowdfunding raises $5.5M in 24 hours
Brandon Sanderson’s latest crowdfunding project launched on BackerKit on March 3 and raised $5.5 million in under 24 hours. The campaign centers on Hoid, the world‑hopping storyteller who appears across Sanderson’s books. Sanderson’s devoted fanbase has backed other large campaigns in recent years: Dragonsteel Entertainment raised $41 million to publish four secret novels, and Brotherwise Games’ Cosmere Roleplaying Game brought in $15 million.
Hoid’s Storybook Collection spans four illustrated fables: The Dog and the Dragon, Wandersail, and The Girl Who Looks Up were originally presented in the Stormlight Archive series, while The ChasmFriends Get a Pet comes from Dragonsteel’s Story Deck collectible trading card game.
Backers can also purchase The Fires of December, a new Cosmere novel; like Tress of the Emerald Sea and Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, The Fires of December is a standalone novel that can provide an introduction to the Cosmere.
