Brie Larson's Enthusiasm Brightens Super Mario Galaxy Press Tour
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens on April 1, and the promo tour is starting. Much of the voice cast comes across as perfunctory, but Brie Larson, who voices Rosalina, stands out with genuine enthusiasm.
Larson is a known gamer and has told the story of kicking a boyfriend out for saying she took Super Mario Galaxy too seriously. That background makes her excitement on the press circuit feel authentic, especially beside cast members who offer more rehearsed remarks.
Fandango published a wide cast interview (without the newly announced Donald Glover, Issa Rae and Luis Guzmán), and Larson called landing the role a moment of "opportunity meets preparation." She praised the Galaxy storyline’s scope, the film’s planets and the way it honors game details and character stories. Much of the rest of the cast supplies promotional hype, but Larson’s passion comes through, and fans can hope it shows on screen when the movie arrives next month.
