Bring back Pikachu's Beach in Pokémon Winds and Waves
Pokémon Yellow is an odd remake of Red and Blue that aims to simulate playing as Ash from the anime: you’re forced to use Pikachu as your starter, and it refuses to go inside a Poké Ball. That design choice made discovering Pikachu’s Beach feel like uncovering a secret tailored to the game’s personality.
The mini-game sits inside Yellow’s code but originally required a Pikachu that knows Surf. Japanese players obtained a surfing Pikachu at certain events, while North American players needed a GameShark at launch. In the game you talk to an NPC at the Summer Beach House on Route 19 to play.
Gameplay is simple and satisfying: you steer Pikachu on a blue surfboard as waves roll in, pressing left or right to flip forward or backward and earn “Rad” points. The higher your Radness, the faster Pikachu moves, which increases the challenge and keeps dozens of runs engaging.
