Bruno Fernandes sent a special message to Cole Palmer on social media after the Chelsea playmaker scored a hat-trick against Wolves, with the England international having been linked with a move to Manchester United. A Manchester native who grew up a United supporter, Palmer began his career at City before joining Chelsea in the summer of 2023 in a £40 million ($54m) transfer.

His debut season produced 25 goals and PFA Young Player of the Year honours, and his second season brought Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup success. He remains under a long-term contract through to 2033, though speculation about a return to the North West continues.

Palmer has tried to distance himself from the gossip: "Everyone loves to chat rubbish, don't they? I don't pay too much attention to it. You see things. But I feel like I've come from a strong place anyway so I don't pay attention to it." Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has also dismissed the rumours: "I've had numerous conversations with Cole and he seems, and is, very, very happy to be here.
