Bungie says Marathon's weekend endgame may exclude some players

Bungie revealed that Marathon's two endgame activities will be limited to weekends: Cryo Archive runs from Friday to Monday, while Ranked runs from Saturday to Tuesday each week. That tight schedule, and the overlap between the two modes, has already proven divisive among players.

Game director Joe Ziegler acknowledged the feedback and said the team is "always iterating and [is] open to looking at other options in the future." He laid out three core reasons for the weekend timing. Preparing: "Players will lose a lot of gear on Cryo and Ranked because it is intended to challenge you to your limits," so weekday downtime is meant for re-gearing.

Economy: "We have some great rewards on Cryo that kind of break the bank when it comes to economy and power gain." Logistics: high entry requirements make queue sizes unpredictable, and weekend windows should draw more players.
