Bungie to run open Marathon preview weekend ahead of March 5 launch
Pcgamer reports Bungie will hold an open preview weekend for Marathon before its March 5 release, and the developer has said "everyone will be able to try Marathon out."
The outlet noted Marathon previously ran a public closed alpha from April 23 until May 4 and had other closed tests later in the year; those playtests required sign-ups and invited participants. This upcoming test appears likely to be limited to a weekend—report speculation suggested it might run from Friday to Monday—rather than the longer week-and-a-half windows used earlier.
Bungie returned to the drawing board after a mixed reception to the first public playtest and has overhauled many systems while adding new features. The studio reiterated there will be an open preview weekend so anyone can try the game before launch, but no date has been revealed yet, however.
