Even after Bungie's split from Microsoft more than 16 years ago, Halo's presence lingers in the studio's new extraction shooter, Marathon. The game's symbology, themes and shared terminology recall Bungie's past, while mechanics—weighty movement, low gravity and grenades that bounce—carry a familiar feel.

Some designs are more overt. The Destroyer shell resembles a Destiny titan wearing spartan armor, and the Magnum MC channels Halo 1's magnum with heavy rounds, aggressive vertical recoil and one‑shot headshot kills on UESC grunts, though it handles more like a Destiny hand cannon.

Other weapons lean into direct callbacks. The V11 Punch functions much like a Plasma Pistol: its semi‑auto volt shots drain shields and a charged blast can shatter them.
