Bunny Shaw to Chelsea as Man City contract talks stall
Chelsea are weighing up a move for Manchester City striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, who enters the final months of her contract this summer. The Jamaica international leads the WSL’s scoring charts with 15 goals in 16 league games and, with no new deal agreed, Chelsea are thought to be the frontrunners to sign her—reportedly offering more money than City.
Man City sit eight points clear at the top of the table with six games remaining, making Shaw’s unsettled future surprising given the club’s recent record of early contract renewals. Shaw has spoken positively about her time in Manchester, and head coach Andree Jeglertz confirmed talks had been underway earlier in the season but later said: "I don't have any updates around that." Shaw’s value to City is clear: she has scored 108 goals in 128 games since joining in 2020, and her absence was a key factor in the 2023-24 title bid faltering.
Losing her to a league rival would be a significant setback for a team that has pushed to close its decade-long gap to the top.
