Cake Wallet Adds Self-Custodial Lightning to Mobile
Lightning has long promised fast, cheap Bitcoin payments, but using it has often meant choosing between an easy custodial wallet and a self-custodial setup that requires managing channels, inbound liquidity and staying online. Cake Wallet’s latest update aims to remove that friction by rolling out self-custodial Lightning support for everyday mobile use.
The wallet lets people send and receive near-instant payments without running Lightning like a hobby and without giving up control of funds. Users can also move BTC back on-chain at any time. At the center of the launch is an integration powered by the Breez SDK and Spark.
Cake says this removes the need to manage channels, inbound capacity, liquidity, or continuous uptime monitoring.
