Call of Duty Warzone is getting a Blackout-inspired mode next week
Blackout, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 mode that helped bring battle royale into the series, is returning in a new Warzone mode called Black Ops Royale. The mode arrives late next week and is billed as an experience rooted in Call of Duty's first battle royale.
Players will jump in with a wingsuit and scavenge to survive on Avalon, with no loadouts, no gulag, and no buy stations. Weapons are upgraded through rarity, cradle breaches play a role, and matches pit squads against 24 rival teams across the map. Black Ops Royale uses the Avalon map also featured in Endgame from Black Ops 7, but the developers stress it is not a straight remake of Blackout; rather, it pays homage to core Blackout gameplay while adapting match flow for Warzone players.
The mode launches as part of Warzone at 12 a.m. on Friday, March 13. At launch only quads will be available, and players who die can redeploy immediately with a redeploy token or be brought back by teammates via a redeploy tower.
