Cam Newton says he's 'fine' with never getting married
Cam Newton, who shares nine children with three different women, said marriage isn’t for him. On a recent appearance on the "TalkLesShow" podcast he said, "I want to be around who want to be around me," and added, "I like volunteers. I don’t like hostages."
Newton suggested marriage could feel like holding someone hostage and argued you can have commitment without a legal ceremony. He said it would be "fine" if he never got married "as long as [he has his] life partner," and noted people "always try to make that weird to understand."
He also pushed back on engagement and wedding rings, saying they would turn marriage into a "gift-giving contest" and asking listeners to "Find where the ring was in the Bible."
Newton has been dating comedian Jasmin Brown since 2021. The couple welcomed their second child together in October 2025 and share a daughter born in March 2024. He co-parents seven older children, two of whom he adopted, with exes Kia Proctor and La Reina Shaw.
