Carlson-Huckabee clash reveals divide over Israel within US right
A confrontational video interview at Ben Gurion airport between Tucker Carlson and Mike Huckabee, the US ambassador to Israel, exposed a sharp split within the Republican movement over American support for Israel. One wing, a Christian nationalist current of the Maga movement, has grown suspicious of the US–Israel relationship; another, older Christian conservative establishment embraces the alliance and, in some cases, believes Israeli Jews have a divine right to much of the Middle East.
Across more than two hours the pair argued fiercely, with Carlson suggesting Huckabee was defending Israel’s interests ahead of those of the United States and Huckabee insisting Israel deserves American military and monetary support. In one exchange Huckabee said, "It would be fine if they took it all," later attempting to backtrack; Carlson pressed him on Jonathan Pollard, an Israeli official’s arrest in Nevada, state‑funded abortions in Israel and alleged links between Jeffrey Epstein and Ehud Barak.
