Carrick: enjoy the buzz but stay focused during United's winning run
Carrick said it was important for United to not get carried away amid their longest winning streak for two years, but he admitted he could not help enjoying the team's resurgence since he took charge.
He said the squad must enjoy the buzz of winning while managing the highs, taking confidence from recent results but regrouping and preparing for the next game rather than assuming success will simply continue.
He warned that the big challenge is understanding what got the team there — the hard work and preparation — and stressed that you cannot fix everything overnight, so players must allow themselves the small waves of emotion while remaining focused on improvement.
Carrick pointed to two clean sheets in four games under his care and said it was easier to win without having to score so many goals every week. He added there is still work to do on collective defending, but praised the players' response and called the clean sheet an important sign of progress.
